Karl N. Khoury, Co-Founder and Partner
Karl Khoury is a founder of Arborview Capital, co-heads the investment team and co-manages the operations of the firm. Prior to founding Arborview Capital, he had twelve years of experience identifying, consummating and managing private equity investments with Columbia Capital, a sector-focused venture capital firm with over $2 billion under management. During that time, he invested in 13 companies with a primary focus on enterprise and communications software, security, and managed IT services. Prior to Columbia Capital, Karl worked at J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York and San Francisco where he specialized in corporate finance and capital markets for technology and communications clients.
Karl currently serves on the boards of directors of Lighting Retrofit International and Paragon Airheater Technologies, and previously served on the boards of nine of the investments that he managed at Columbia Capital. He also currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Levine School of Music, a leading independent music school based in Washington, DC. Karl received a BS in Finance from Lehigh University in 1991.

Joseph E. Lipscomb, Co-Founder and Partner
Joe is a founder of Arborview Capital, co-heads the investment team and co-manages the operations of the firm. Prior to founding Arborview Capital, he had nine years experience identifying, consummating and managing private equity investments, first as a managing director at the Carlyle Group and then with the Maryland-based firm, Global Environment Fund. He has a long track record of working closely with high quality management teams to build successful, leading companies in high growth sectors. Prior to that, Joe had a nine year career at BT Alex Brown and First Boston, providing financing and advisory services to growth companies.
Joe currently serves on the boards of directors of Lighting Retrofit International and Paragon Airheater Technologies, and previously served as a board member of numerous companies, both private and public. He also currently is the Chairman of the Board of the Nature Conservancy-Washington DC/Maryland Chapter, is a trustee and member of the Investment Committee of Kenyon College and is a member of the advisory board of the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS). Joe received an undergraduate degree from Kenyon (1987), an MA from SAIS (1991) and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1992).

Roger S. Ballentine, Venture Partner
Roger is a Venture Partner of Arborview Capital and provides the firm with a broad network of industry contacts, unique access to proprietary deal flow and extensive clean energy industry and regulatory policy expertise. He is actively involved in Arborview Capital’s investment process and serves on the board of portfolio investment Paragon Airheater Technologies.
Roger is the founder and CEO of Green Strategies, Inc., a corporate consulting firm that assists clients with domestic and international public policy matters, marketing and business development strategies in the areas of energy, environment and sustainability. Representative clients for his consulting practice include Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Kohlberg, Kravis Roberts & Co. and Texas Pacific Group (on the TXU Corp. buyout), Goldman Sachs Group Inc., American Electric Power Co., Inc. and General Electric Company. Prior to Green Strategies, Mr. Ballentine served as the Chairman of the White House Climate Change Task Force and Deputy Assistant to the President for Environmental Initiatives under President Bill Clinton. Previously, he was a partner with the Washington law and lobbying firm, Patton Boggs, LLP.
Mr. Ballentine has extensive public and private board experience and is a founding Board Member of the American Council on Renewable Energy and also serves on the boards of directors of the Biomass Energy Resource Center and the International Fund for China’s Environment. Mr. Ballentine is a Lecturer on Law at Harvard University and a Senior Fellow at the Progressive Policy Institute. He has a JD, cum laude, from Harvard University and a BA in Economics, magna cum laude from the University of Connecticut.

Rona Kennedy, Chief Financial Officer
Rona is the Chief Financial Officer of Arborview Capital and is responsible for the investor reporting, accounting, tax, and administrative operations of Arborview Capital and its Fund partnerships. Prior to joining Arborview Capital, Ms. Kennedy was the Chief Financial Officer, of Perseus, L.L.C., a buyout and growth equity private equity firm with approximately $2 billion of committed capital under management. Prior to joining Perseus, L.L.C., Ms. Kennedy was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Thayer Capital Partners, a private equity firm targeting industrial product and service companies in the middle market with approximately $1 billion of committed capital under management, from 2001 to 2007.
Prior to joining Thayer Capital Partners, Ms. Kennedy spent seven years in public accounting, serving as a Tax Manager at Arthur Andersen and an Audit and Tax Manager at Beers & Cutler. Ms. Kennedy is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Private Equity CFO Association/Mid-Atlantic Chapter. Ms. Kennedy holds a B.S. in Accounting from George Mason University.

Raymond Fan, Associate
Raymond is an Associate of Arborview Capital and is responsible for the screening, evaluating, and diligence of potential Arborview investments. Prior to joining Arborview Capital, Raymond was a member of Banc of America Securities’ Investment Banking Business and Information Services Group. As an analyst in the Business and Information Services Group, he worked on numerous M&A transactions, recapitalizations, equity offerings, and debt financings.
Raymond received a B.S. in Finance and International Business with a citation in Entrepreneurship from the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Raymond continues to be an active mentor and speaker at the University of Maryland. He is an avid marathon runner and hopes to qualify for the Olympic Trials one day. He is also a CFA Level II Candidate.

Jesse S. Sanders, Associate
Jesse is an Associate of Arborview Capital and is responsible for the screening, evaluation, and diligence of potential Arborview investments. Prior to joining Arborview Capital, Jesse was a Vice President at Allied Capital, where he focused on growth equity investments and buyouts of companies in the energy services and wholesale distribution sectors. Previously he was a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, where he advised management teams on business strategy.
Jesse is a Director of FareShare, a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Washington which provides transportation assistance to formerly homeless veterans of the U.S. armed forces. Jesse received a BA in Economics and History from Indiana University, where he was a Herman B. Wells Scholar, an MA from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar.
